We would like to welcome our new Dental Hygienist Karla

Karla is passionate about her role as a Dental Hygienist and aims to create a fun, comfortable environment and care for peoples’ dental health.  She loves working with adults, children and teenagers, focusing on education and promoting good oral health.

Karla has been in the dental industry for over 20 years starting as a Dental Assistant then completed an Advanced Diploma of Oral Health (Hygiene) at TAFESA in Adelaide over 2 years ago. She is also qualified as a Dental Technician.

Hygienists play an integral role in oral health by providing individualised oral hygiene care and treatment to prevent disease of the teeth and gums and help improve general health and wellbeing.

Karla shares her time here with our Oral Health Therapist, Helen Rose. They both have young children and split the week equally between them, with Karla now being able to offer cleans on Friday mornings.

Helen started with us in 2016 and completed her degree in Bachelor of Oral Health and Oral Health Therapy at Griffith University on the Gold Coast in 2009. Helen has gained excellent patient relationships since she has been with us and helping them prevent gum disease and improve patients dental health.  She is also experienced in professional tooth whitening to brighten those healthy smiles!

Dental Therapists are specially trained clinicians who are able to treat children aged 0 to 17 years. They are able to independently perform routine check-ups on children and diagnose problems such as decay or gum disease.  With these additional skills, Helen is qualified to do xrays, fillings, fissure sealants and extractions of baby teeth.  She can also make protective mouth guards, space maintainers and place stainless steel crowns.
